Your goal
Sex and desire
Two different problems hide under "low libido": not wanting sex (desire) and not being able to perform (erections). A few of these compounds are real, approved medicines with solid human proof. The rest are indirect fixes or straight-up hype, so it pays to know which problem you're actually trying to solve.
What actually works
3The strongest real evidence for this goal.
PT-141 (Bremelanotide)
ProvenAn FDA-approved shot that raises sexual desire in women, with human evidence it can trigger erections in men too - the one compound here aimed squarely at wanting sex.
Alprostadil
ProvenAn approved erection drug that works directly on blood flow and reliably produces erections even when pills like Viagra fail - about performance, not desire.
hCG
ModerateReliably raises testosterone in men whose low T comes from a hormone-signal problem, which can lift libido indirectly, but it's not a desire drug on its own.
Promising, still unproven
1Interesting early signals — not proven yet.
Mostly hype - be skeptical
3Lots of buzz, little human proof. Tread carefully.
Gonadorelin
EarlyA hormone-signal drug used for diagnosis and fertility; any libido boost is indirect and its popular TRT add-on use is unproven.
Kisspeptin-10
EarlyAn interesting reproductive-hormone switch, but the human sex-drive story is barely off the ground and mostly studied in animals.
FOXO4-DRI
EarlyAn anti-aging "zombie cell" killer tested only in mice, with no real link to sex or desire in people.
The honest bottom line
If you want to WANT sex, PT-141 is the only approved option built for that; if the issue is erections, alprostadil is the proven fix. Everything else is either indirect or unproven.
